Who We Are

In landscaping, gabion walls are maintenance-free and environmentally efficient as feature walls, sound barriers, retaining walls, support for earth walls, to stabilize soil, for erosion control, and more.

Inspired by the xeriscape of the Arizona deserts, our products are designed and constructed locally by our team of gabion specialists, in consultation with each client. We pride ourselves on delivering unique products that are beautiful, functional, affordable and virtually maintenance-free.

Stronger by Design

While most gabion manufacturers use lighter 9–11 gauge steel mesh, we use only heavy-duty 6–7 gauge steel for superior strength and durability.

Available in galvanized or bare steel finishes (bare steel naturally weathers to a rusted patina), our gabions are as rugged as they are refined—perfect for modern and rustic landscapes alike.

Built to Last. Guaranteed

At Custom Gabion Design, we build our products using high-strength welded mesh made from galvanized, coated, or bare steel that holds its shape and won’t bend or deform when filled. The result is a long-lasting, visually striking product that functions as both a design feature and a structural solution.

Our gabions are engineered to endure for decades, and we stand behind our craftsmanship with a 15-year guarantee on all products we build, install, and complete.

What are Gabions?

ga·bi·on

/gābēən/

noun

A gabion is a wire mesh container filled with rock, brick, concrete, or other inorganic materials. Originally derived from the Italian word gabbione, meaning “big cage,” gabions have been used for centuries in construction and civil engineering—and now bring structure and beauty to modern land.

Today, gabions are widely used for: Retaining walls, Furniture and seating, Landscape accents, and Soil stabilization and erosion control.
